Nineteen tracks recorded for the BBC in excellent sound quality explore the variety of music made by Derek, Phil and Ray Shulman aka Simon Dupree and the Big Sound. Material varies from the psychedelic 1967 hit Kites, via soul-based material by such as Homer Banks and Jackie Edwards through to grungier cover versions of Mouse & The Traps and Spirit. The band split in 1969: the following year the Shulman brothers reconvened as prog-rock pioneers Gentle Giant. Comes with full credits and extensive sleeve notes.

“This label hasn’t disappointed me yet. The band were a bit patchy on record across their career imho but this is a great selection and includes songs I don’t think they put out. Pressing and sound quality are great. I’ll probably play this more than their original LP.” Jim Whitters
